2025 Year in Review
The team may have been hard to watch, but Resurgence did a lot during the 2025 season. Here’s a recap of our highlights:
COMMUNITY SERVICE
We kicked the year off with two volunteer events working in the kitchen to help prepare and serve dinner at My Sister’s House, a homeless shelter for women and children fleeing domestic violence.
In February, members planted trees at two Trees Atlanta planting events, one on February 1st at Springdale Elementary School and one on February 21st at John Lewis Freedom Parkway.
Also in February, members donated at the Red Cross blood drive at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. One member who participated received a free jersey.
In March, we raffled tickets to the home game vs Inter Miami and raised $1,100 for the North Springs High School soccer program. Multiple members who bought raffled tickets but did not win received free merchandise such as a Marta scarf and a Somos Atlanta hat.
Also In March, members participated in the signing day for the Unified team so that the players would have a special day with fans cheering for them.
For a few games from March to June, we donated tickets for graduating high school soccer players to attend Atlanta United games for free.
On May 17, dozens of members walked as part of Team Tobias in the annual Cystic Fibrosis Great Strides Fundraiser in Suwanee. At our tailgate that afternoon, six autographed jerseys were raffled with all proceeds donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Finally at the match that evening, Elyse and Danita’s son Tobias walked out with the team as the honorary captain, and his story was featured on the halo board before the game.
In June, Autographed merchandise donated to the family of a child going through a major medical issue.
In October, members marched in the annual Pride Parade as part of the Atlanta United contingent.
Also in October, members participated in a Trees Atlanta planting in East Atlanta. 45 trees were planted and one lucky member got to meet Beltline Kevin.
In November, members donated $1,000 to local food banks, and Resurgence made a matching $1,000 to the Atlanta Community Food Bank. This is estimated to provide 6,000 meals for individuals and families experiencing food insecurity in the metro area.
From October to December, over $2,000 worth of uniforms and equipment was distributed to local youth soccer referees as a token of our appreciation and in and effort to make working as a youth soccer referee more affordable.
BEHIND THE SCENES
We’ve been working on removing some of the complexity and patchwork of different systems while improving internal communication and record keeping. We’ve implemented free or heavily discounted non-profit versions of slack and QuickBooks.
Early in the year our debit card was compromised, and it was something of an ordeal to get it replaced by the bank. That’s all resolved now and will not be as complex to resolve if it does happen again.
If you’re a new member or purchased away tickets, you’ve already seen Chant. More to come on that soon.
Overall, we’re working to simplify, making things easy to understand and transition for future boards.
TRAVEL
We worked with the Gulch on a bus to Charlotte. We also had good crews travel to Austin and Denver, along with some questionable choices made in Nashville. We’ve seen a lot of travel moved to be through the season ticket holder away ticket benefits.
IN GAME
We started the year with some new smaller flags and lighter poles which were a hit. Our flag and load-in signups also moved to Chant. We’re always open to new designs and more flags. We want to set up as many flags as people are willing to wave, and while we can send a few in with the march on match day, the more we can plan in advance the better.
Thank you to all of our flag wavers, big or small, thank you to all our Golden Spike carriers, and an extra special thank you to everyone who helped with load-in and breakdown.
BUSINESS RELATIONS
Expanding the “Home Pitch” Strategy
Our goal this year was to branch out and ensure that no matter where a member is in the city, there’s a Resurgence hub nearby.
Halfway Crooks (Summerhill):
Though not as successful as we hoped, we attempted to expand our footprint into Summerhill. The Biergarten proved to be an ideal venue for high-capacity watch parties, allowing us to tap into a new neighborhood demographic. As the season got away from us so did our attendance. The goal moving forward should be dedicated to boosting attendance and retention.
Three Taverns Brewery: We didn’t just maintain this pillar of our community; we optimized it. By utilizing both the Brewhouse and the Imaginarium, we offered members two distinct atmospheric experiences, culminating in our signature end-of-season event.
The “Bury the Season” Gala & Internal Enterprise:
Our end-of-season Gala wasn’t just a party; it was a proof-of-concept for how we can support our own.
Member Spotlight: We were proud to feature Literally Vodka—a Georgia-made spirit brand owned and operated by one of our very own RSG members.
Integrating member-owned businesses into our official events is a priority for the upcoming season. It keeps our ecosystem circular and supports the local economy.
Strategic Partnerships & Merchandising
We’ve taken significant steps to align RSG with iconic Atlanta institutions and internal creative powerhouses.
Our collaboration with MARTA has bridged the gap between match-day transit and supporter culture, and we look forward to hosting them at even more tailgates next year. Meanwhile, the creative minds at FTCUTD are ensuring our brand identity remains the sharpest in the league.
The Bottom Line:
It has been a high-velocity year of networking, contract building, and brand expansion. As we look toward next season, our mission remains the same: Grow the friendship, grow the partnership, and grow the club.
We are always looking for new sponsors and local partners to join the Resurgence family. If you have a lead or a business that aligns with our culture, let’s get to work.
TAILGATE
The 2025 Resurgence Tailgate continued many of the traditions we have come to expect from our rag-tag group of hooligans. We moved back to Lot 17 and did not miss a beat when it came to being the rowdiest, craziest, and most hype tailgate in the lot.
We continued to spread our belief in being welcoming to any and all. Our mission of remaining a free and safe space for all walks of life is reflected in many ways, with our ever-changing multicultural food options being one of the most obvious. There is no monolith within RSG and that was represented very well by the foods presented at our “Melting Pot Potluck” tailgate.
As far as hype goes, liquor ball continues to be a winning setup among adults and kids alike. The addition of condiments and sodas to get the littles involved has been hilarious to see. There is no tailgate that makes more sense for the Hype Circle and the starting location for the Supporter’s March than ours. We will continue do everything in our abilities to take the lead on match day hype.
None of these things are possible without RSG members continuing to volunteer their time and effort to these causes. From the individuals cooking for us nearly every single tailgate, to members spending tailgate time handing out free beverages, the volunteer spirit remains alive, well, and ever-important.
In the end, 2025 proved that it doesn’t matter if the team is even any good, we bring the atmosphere regardless. We proved that we can be the loudest, wildest group in the lot while remaining the most welcoming group out there. To everyone who contributed to the chaos and the community: THANK YOU.
